Volvo have revealed a new performance variant of their V60 and S60 models, the Polestar.
On paper, the S60/V60 Polestar seems to have cars like the Audi S4 and Opel/Vauxhall Insignia OPC set as competitors – coming equipped with a twin-scroll turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six engine producing 350hp and 500Nm of torque (a 2.5-inch stainless steel exhaust system has been placed for an aggressive exhaust note). Acceleration from 0-100km/h takes 4.9 sec and has a limited top speed of 250km/h.
Drive is provided by a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, sending power through a Polestar-developed Haldex four-wheel drive system. Front splitters have been placed for better aerodynamics, as well as a new rear spoiler and diffuser.
As for the suspension, the Polestar edition comes equipped with 80% stiffer springs to a standard S60 R-design, and also comes with Öhlins shock absorbers and 20-inch wheels. Stopping power is provided by 371mm ventilated front brake discs and six-piston Brembo calipers.
No word on pricing as yet, but deliveries for the Polestar edition will commence in June 2014.
