With this video of a McLaren P1 prototype, we can draw the conclusion that it emits a similar exhaust note to the MP4-12C, confirming that the P1 will indeed have a modified version of the MP4's engine. Thank God for YouTube! A concept car and an open-top supercar are this week’s standout cars, coming in the form of a Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster and the Mercedes Benz Ener-G-Force concept car.
One of the most anticipated cars from Mercedes Benz AMG has finally shown itself, the SLS AMG Coupe Black Series.
The SLS AMG Coupe Black Series is now the ultimate car AMG has to offer, coming armed with a high-revving 6.2-litre V8 producing 631hp at 7,400 rpm and 635Nm (468 lb ft) of torque at 5,500 rpm. Thanks to its new high-revving nature, the Black Series produces slightly less torque than in the standard SLS. However, acceleration from 0-100km/h is faster, getting there in 3.6 seconds and maxing out at 315km/h. This week, Maserati have shown us what their next Quattroporte sedan will look like, and it is set for a public debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show in January.
In terms of design, there is a resemblance to the GranTurismo range at the front, while the rest of the body uses a more modern design. The interior has new features as well, such as: a new steering wheel, a new gear lever, a new touchscreen interface, etc. Nissan has given its benchmark super coupe – the GT-R – yet another set of tweaks for the next model year.
Horsepower is rated at 550hp from the GT-R’s twin-turbo 3.8-litre V6 engine, while its 0-100km/h (0-62mph) time is 2.7 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds quicker than the current 2012 GT-R. Another astonishing number is without doubt the time it takes to get around the Nurburgring race track – 7min 19.1 seconds. Like before, it makes use of a six-speed double-clutch transmission and a clever all-wheel drive system. |
