Rain only enables half of Malaysian GP.

We were hoping that there would be no need for the F1 stewards to determine the final results of today's race.  Well we got our wish, the stewards didn't interfere, but mother nature did.

The race started out well, with Nico Rosberg coming off the start line cleanly and quickly taking the lead.  However, we could all see that the menacing dark clouds above would sooner or later have a say in the outcome of the race.

The rain started to fall close to half way through the amount of laps needed to finish the race.  Kimi Raikkonen was the first to change to wet tyres, well in advance of everyone else, trying to  gain an advantage before all the other drivers came into the pit lane.  It's a shame that he still finished last, at 14th place, out of the cars that didn't end up out of the race.

After everyone had changed to wet tyres, we witnessed an interesting overtaking duel between Lewis Hamilton and Mark Webber.  Mark Webber came out on top in that duel, later hearing Hamilton saying that his car had problems in 5th gear.  Hamilton finished in 7th place, Webber in 6th.

Sebastien Vettel and Robert Kubica suffered the same fate as last week's race in Australia, not being able to finish the race.  Only this time Vettel spun out when it was raining, while Kubica's engine bay caught fire well before it started to rain.

The safety car was deployed when it really began to pour with rain, at this point Jenson Button was in the lead with Nick Heidfeld following close at 2nd place and Timo Glock in 3rd.  The race was then stopped after the conditions were deemed unsafe for racing, those left in the race assembling at the start/finish line. After nearly an hour of waiting the race was abandoned all together.

Half the points were awarded to the drivers, since they did not complete 75% of the race.  The next race will be in two weeks at China's Shanghai International Circuit.  All we can hope for this time is for a dry, steward-free race.
