New Mercedes Benz S-Class Coupe to be shown in Geneva!

After 18 years of service, Mercedes Benz has retired the CL coupe and replaced it with this new sleek-looking S-Class Coupe.

The new S-Class Coupe will make its world debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in a few weeks’ time, and will initially be powered by a twin-turbo 4.7-litre V8 engine producing 455hp and 700Nm of torque (this will be the S 500 Coupe). Mercedes Benz also claims that it will produce an aggressive exhaust note thanks to a sporty exhaust system.
It measures 5027mm long, making it only 89mm shorter than a short wheelbase S-Class sedan.  It does have a lot of common elements with the sedan though, such as full LED headlamps and an impressive list of high-tech features.  The LED headlamps can also be had in combination with at least 47 Swarovski crystals — 17 of which are angular crystals (for the daytime running lamps), while the remaining 30 are round crystals (for the indicator lamps).

Some of the features available in this new coupe include: MAGIC BODY CONTROL, which scans the road ahead for imperfections and presets the suspension and body to absorb them effectively; PRE-SAFE braking with pedestrian detection, which automatically applies the brakes if a potential collision is detected; DISTRONIC PLUS; BAS PLUS with junction assist; Active Lane Keeping Assist; Adaptive High-beam Assist Plus and Night View Assist Plus; as well as an AIR-BALANCE package, which provides occupants with different fragrances for the cabin.

An optional touchpad will be available, allowing for the head unit functions to be operated using finger gestures, such as on a smartphone or tablet.  The rear seats can be had with an Exclusive nappa designo leather, which includes diamond backstitching on the backrest and seating surfaces. As for the driver, there’s also an optional head-up display with a resolution of 480 x 240 pixels.  The head-up display uses high-power LEDs to project images measuring 21 x 7 cm.

Mercedes Benz haven’t released any official details on price or other engine options, but we can expect the same variety of V8 and V12 engines found in the S-Class sedan when the Coupe goes on sale on the second half of this year.
