Button claims fantastic 4th victory in Spain’s GP, after finishing well over 13 seconds ahead of his team-mate Rubens Barrichello in 2nd place. Button also managed to lap current World Champion Lewis Hamilton, who finished in 9th place, while Mark Webber claimed 3rd place. Lewis Hamilton may sometimes seem to have the abilities of God when it comes to going around a race track in an F1 car, but unfortunately his latest incident involving traffic in Geneva-Switzerland, proves that he is a mere mortal. After a long and impressive career of nearly 30 years, Ron Dennis has finally left all his CEO responsibilities at McLaren Racing to Martin Whitmarsh. Dennis' departure comes at a difficult time for McLaren Racing, as they are still surrounded by the contrversial results of the Australian Grand Prix, as well as the departure of sporting director Dave Ryan. We were hoping that there would be no need for the F1 stewards to determine the final results of today's race. Well we got our wish, the stewards didn't interfere, but mother nature did. Jenson Button has managed to claim pole position again for the second race of the 2009 Formula 1 season. It seemed like we were going to witness another 1-2 pole position for the Brawn GP drivers, but Toyota's Jarno Trulli managed get in the way of that, snatching second place on the starting grid. Sebastien Vettel will start at third place, while Button's team mate, Rubens Barrichello, will start fourth on the grid. What a turn of events. We all knew that the changes made to the F1 cars would rearrange the starting grid and and indeed who would end up winning. But it still comes as a surprise to see Jenson Button on pole position for tommorrow's race at Melbourne. Considering the past few seasons haven't exactly been favourable for the British driver, and the fact that he and his team mate Rubens Barrichello are racing for the all new racing team Brawn GP, it comes as a fantastic start to both Button and the new team. This is a great time for fans of Formula 1, it's back this sunday!. The 2009 season promises to be one of the most exciting seasons ever, with a number of changes brought in to significantly alter the handling of the F1 machinery. It is fair to say that F1 is no longer going to be the predictable sport it once was, at least not for this season. The good people at msn.com have uploaded a video to give us an idea of what to expect for the 2009 season. |
