Morgan is set to revive its legendary Threewheeler model in 2011. According to autocar.co.uk the British manufacturer will be bringing the model back 58 years after the last one was made, and like the original it will be powered by a motorcycle unit. A 1800cc Harley Davidson unit with 100hp is expected to power the new Threewheeler, with that power going through a Mazda 5 speed gearbox before propeling the car from 0-60 mph in 4.5 sec and a top speed of 115 mph. The Threewheeler fits in to Morgan's plan of downsizing and at the same time "expanding the range and returning to its roots". The price for the Threewheeler shall be released closer to its launch. The long wait for the updated Challenger is over - well at least until it goes on sale in December. Muscle car enthusiasts will be glad to learn that the previous 6.1l Hemi V8 has grown to 6.4l (392 cubic inches), and along with it the power and torque figure. The new 392 V8 produces 470 hp and 470 lb ft of torque. Dodge has added performance oriented motor mounts for engine smoothness, while other mechanical bits include an active intake manifold and a high lift cam in a bid to improve both low-end and high-end response. The 392 also has a fuel saving system which allows the V8 to run on four cylinders during light driving (only on automatic models). Still available is the five speed automatic transmission from the previous Challenger, while those wishing for a manual transmission will get the Tremec TR-6060 six speed transmission that was on the 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10. Dodge promises easier shifting thanks to a revised heavy duty clutch. The new drivetrain is said to launch the new car from 0-60 mph in around 4 seconds, while quarter mile is covered in the high 12s. Manual transmission models will be able to reach a top speed of 180 mph, while autos will reach 173 mph. Other goodies include a sportier sounding exhaust, as well as new 20 inch wheels. To kick things off with the new 392, Dodge first plans to make 1,492 Inaugural Edition Challengers, which means they'll initially be available in either "Deep Water Blue with standard Stone White stripes or Bright White Clear Coat with standard Viper Blue stripes". |
