Nissan always manages to set pulses racing whenever they announce a new lap time of the Nurburgring racing circuit for its GTR supercar. Despite being a lot heavier and less powerful than its main rivals, it still manages to be a lot faster than them. Many people attribute this to the fact that it was built from the start to be the fastest car around the Nurburgring in its sector. They also say that its speed is thanks to a very well sorted all wheel drive system, superfast gearchanges, well judged gear ratios, sticky tyres, and overall stability. Nissan's Motorsport arm, NISMO, has finally taken the wraps off its Z-tune car. The NISMO Z-tune comes complete with a slight hike in the horsepower department, 350 hp at 7600 rpm and 276 lb ft of torque at 5600 rpm. The increase in power comes from a new H-configured exhaust system, muffler tuning, as well as fettling with the Engine Computer Module(ECM), with that power chanelled through Nissan's rev-matching 6 speed close ratio gearbox. Nissan will be unveiling its Nissan 370 Z roadster at the New York car show tomorrow. In the meanwhile Nissan has decided to give a taster of its new roadster by releasing an image (left) to the automotive press. It gets the same 3.7l V6 engine as the coupe, complete with 327hp and a nice torque figure of 268 lb ft, all directed to the rear wheels. It has been a while since the Nissan GTR set a lap time of 7:29 min at the Nurburgring, but such was the shock of it being able to achieve such a time, that it was worth adding on to our blog. Why was it a shock? well that lap time meant it was faster than a Porsche 911 Turbo, a Corvette Z06 , and get this, a lighter yet more powerful Porsche 911 GT2. It was so unbelievable in fact that Porsche even claimed that Nissan cheated to get that lap time. |
